ILS within Defense
ILS within the defense and security sector is playing an increasingly important role. Defense works with complex systems, vehicles, installations […]
An interview with Robin van Woerden
The changing geopolitical landscape has led the Netherlands to significantly increase its investments in defense capacity. In addition to equipment and systems, the Ministry of Defense aims to grow its workforce from 70,000 to 200,000 people, including military personnel, reservists and civilians. This is a tremendous challenge, one that can only be achieved through collaboration. It is precisely within these civilian roles that Talentmark can play a meaningful part by sustainably connecting the needs of the defense sector with the capabilities available in civil society. Talentmark Defense supports this by actively contributing to the ecosystem with its expertise in strategic talent management and HR.
Most people understand that the world of defense and security has a unique character. At the same time, there are many similarities with organizations operating in other vital sectors.
Thanks to the broad sector experience of Talentmarks consultants, they are well equipped to understand and recognize these nuances.
Says Robin van Woerden, Managing Director at Talentmark. It addition, defense culture is shaped by its core mission of protection, advancement and support. The four guiding values (Connection, Trust, Safety and Responsibility) are central to this culture. These values strongly resonate with other industries that operate in the national interest, such as Life Sciences, Offshore and large-scale engineering projects. As Robin explains:
Talentmarks knowledge and experience across these sectors enable the organization to identify similarities and provide strategic support in workforce planning. It is clear that the growth of the defense sector must largely come from civil society.
Talentmark understands which subject-matter experts are well suited to this environment and supports them in making the transition into the defense sector.
The defense and security sector faces an enormous workload. Not only in term of people, but also equipment, logistics, systems and supporting functions. While funding is available, it must be effectively converted into real capacity.
Using the ‘define, design and deliver’ model, Talentmark Defense primarily plays a role in the design and delivery phases.
First, it must be determined what needs to be done (define), then how it should be organized (design) and only then can execution follow (deliver). Talentmark supports organizations across all phases, with a current focus on the latter two.
Although the labor market is crowded with recruitment agencies, very few focus exclusively on the defense and security sector. Only through full dedication to this domain can an organization become a true strategic partner.
This commitment aligns closely with the core values PRIDE (Passion, Respect, Innovation, Drive and Empowerment) of Talentmark
Talentmark Defense fills a critical gap in this sector by:
Talentmark Defense is not a traditional recruitment agency, but a knowledge partner that helps organizations build, scale and thrive.
Talentmark Defense builds on the robust processes developed over more than 50 years of recruitment services experience. These processes have been proven in industries where strict safety requirements and high-quality standards are essential and are therefore well suited to complex and highly regulated environments. For candidates, Talentmark provides a dedicated team to guide them smoothly through screening procedures and selection processes.
Decades of experience in talent inflow and qualification within complex environments have generated valuable insights that are now applied within the defense and security sector.
Talentmark Defense also operates in full compliance with legal requirements and standards related to cybersecurity and data protection. Its VCU-certified recruiters align with the strict compliance demands of the industry, ensuring not only candidate quality but also the security of data and processes.
Talentmark Defense is focused on building an ecosystem in which government, industry and civilians collaborate toward a shared mission: keeping the Netherlands safe. The ambition is to further develop into a trusted strategic partner for the defense and security sector in the areas of talent, workforce inflow, HR and personnel policy.
Suppliers, partners and civil organizations all play a role in achieving shared objectives amid ongoing geopolitical tensions. Talentmark Defense supports these stakeholders by sharing insights, structures and workforce inflow processes derived from the defense and security sector.
By understanding the dynamics within the defense domain, Talentmark is able to translate this knowledge to suppliers and partners, resulting in stronger talent inflow, better alignment and more effective collaboration.
