A QA Officer (or QA Manager GMP) is involved in GxP areas: Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Distribution Practice (GDP), or Good Manufacturing Practice (GP) in the production of pharmaceutical products. In the GMP area, the QA Officer collaborates closely with the supply chain to ensure the required quality standards are met for the delivery of raw materials and products. What are your duties and responsibilities as a Quality Assurance Officer?

As a QA Officer, your role includes various tasks, such as batch review, approval of incoming raw material requests and subsequent release, change control, and validation-related activities. In more detail, the responsibilities of a Quality Assurance Officer may include:

• Reviewing reports and change request for completeness, consistency, relevance, and clarity;
• Advising requesting departments on GMP matters and GMP compliance;
• Examining documentation related to raw materials and releasing these materials;
• Reviewing and preparing documentation for batch release;
• Reviewing and approving QA-driven documentation (such as SOPs, batch records, work instructions);
• Supporting the development of appropriate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) and continuous improvement activities.

What education and skills do you need as a Quality Assurance Officer?

To qualify as a QA Officer, you need a BSc or MSc in biopharmaceutical or biomedical sciences, chemistry, pharmacy, or another relevant academic degree in Life Sciences. Additionally, a few years of experience in the pharmaceutical or food industry is preferred, and up-to-date knowledge of GMP regulations is an advantage. Key personal skills and attributes required for this role include:

• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English;
• Being critical and highly precise;
• The ability to work independently while being a team player when necessary.

What salary can you expect as a Quality Assurance Officer?

The salary of a QA Officer depends on experience and the nature of the position offered. In the Netherlands, salaries range from €31,000 and €60,000 per year for a full-time position.
