Engineer Level 3 at Defense

What will you do as an Engineer Level 3?

As an Engineer Level 3, you are the senior specialist within the Engineering discipline. You ensure that complex weapon systems and components remain safe, reliable and operational. You conduct in-depth analyses, develop maintenance strategies and coordinate technical projects. In addition, you advise colleagues, project leaders and suppliers on technical improvements and quality standards.

Your main tasks include:

  • Performing technical analyses, such as RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) analyses and technical forecasting;
  • Developing and refining maintenance concepts and sustainment strategies;
  • Assessing and validating modification proposals and maintenance procedures;
  • Advising asset managers, project leaders and operational users on sustainment and engineering challenges;
  • Identifying obsolete components and recommending next steps (last-time buys, modifications);
  • Translating international regulations into Defense-specific guidelines and quality standards;
  • Monitoring project progress, quality and costs and reporting to management.

In short, as an Engineer Level 3, you are the senior expert who combines analysis with coordination and strategic advice. You ensure that people, resources and processes align seamlessly, enabling Defense to always rely on mission-ready equipment.

What do you need for this role?

As an Engineer Level 3, you combine deep technical expertise with leadership and coordination skills. You lead colleagues and projects, providing clear direction on complex sustainment and engineering challenges.

Education & knowledge:

  • A bachelors or masters degree in a relevant technical field;
  • Additional training in (weapon) systems engineering;
  • Extensive experience in technical engineering roles;
  • Experience with maintenance analyses and interpreting technical results;
  • Knowledge of RAM analysis, maintenance planning and configuration management;
  • Familiarity with applications such as IMDS, FEDLOG, NMRCL and NCORE;
  • Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
