Engineer Level 1 at Defense

What will you do as an Engineer Level 1?

As an Engineer Level 1, you contribute to the maintenance and improvement of Defense equipment. You ensure that weapon system and components remain reliable and functional, while supporting the development of maintenance concepts, technical analyses and improvement initiatives. Your work directly impacts the operational readiness of the armed forces.

Your main tasks include:

Performing technical analyses, such as RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) analyses and technical forecasting;
Assisting in analyzing maintenance performance and proposing improvements;
Contributing to maintenance concepts and drafting technical specifications;
Identifying obsolete components and advising on next steps;
Conducting trend analyses and developing plans for future material usage;
Advising asset managers on product assortments and new items;
Supporting evaluations of maintenance methods and contracts.

In short, as an Engineer Level 1, you support projects through technical analysis and advice, ensuring that systems remain reliable, safe and mission-ready.

What do you need for this role?

As an Engineer Level 1, you combine technical expertise with strong analytical skills. You work as part of project teams, support asset managers and can translate technical issues into practical solutions.

Education & knowledge:

A bachelors degree in a relevant technical field (or mbo-4 with equivalent hbo-level working and thinking skills);
Knowledge of weapon systems and maintenance concepts;
Experience in technical or engineering roles;
Familiarity with analytical methods such as RAM, maintenance planning and configuration management;
Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
