Engineer Level 2 at Defense

What will you do as an Engineer Level 2?

As an Engineer Level 2, you work on maintaining complex weapon systems and components. You ensure that systems remain reliable by conducting in-depth technical analyses and developing maintenance strategies. You also guide projects, assess modifications and advise colleagues on technical improvements. You play a key role in maintaining the operational readiness of the armed forces.

Your main tasks include:

  • Performing technical analyses, such as RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) analyses and technical forecasting;
  • Studying maintenance performance and proposing improvement measures;
  • Contributing to maintenance concepts and technical specifications;
  • Reviewing modification proposals and supplier documentation;
  • Coordinating and guiding (sub)projects, including those with external partners;
  • Advising on outsourcing and insourcing maintenance processes;
  • Identifying obsolete components and advising on solutions (last time buys, modifications);
  • Preparing technical guidelines, plans and reports.

In short, as an Engineer Level 2, you are the technical specialist who performs and coordinates analyses to ensure Defense can continue to rely on operational equipment.

What do you need for this role?

As an Engineer Level 2, you combine deep technical expertise with coordination skills. You work independently on analyses and projects, but are also capable of advising and influencing colleagues effectively.

Education & knowledge:

  • A bachelors or masters degree in a relevant technical field;
  • Training in (weapon) systems engineering;
  • Extensive experience in technical engineering roles;
  • Experience with maintenance analyses and interpreting technical data;
  • Knowledge of RAM analysis, maintenance planning and configuration management;
  • Familiarity with applications such as IMDS, FEDLOG, NMRCL and NCORE;
  • Strong command of English, both spoken and written.
